Total Objects mark 26th Insurance Market Charity Golf day in Spectacular Style.

London, 20 August 2015 - Aerobatics, luxury cars, over £12,000 raised for Cancer Research UK and some great golf at an iconic venue provided the perfect cocktail to mark the 26th Annual Insurance Market Charity Golf day in style.

This year’s event, held at the prestigious Stoke by Nayland Golf, Hotel and Spa resort since its inception, once again proved to be the perfect venue for a day of fundraising, golf and incredible attractions all in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Last year saw the fundraising total for this event break through the £250,000 barrier, and this money has helped support the fantastic results that Cancer Research UK has achieved in those 26 years, with 10 year survival rates now doubling to 2 in 4.

Over 100 players, who were all specialists from across the London Insurance Market, competed for individual and team honours, including the Kevin Collins Memorial Trophy, which was introduced in memory of Total Objects’ Deputy Chairman who passed away in 2014.

With the players all gearing up for a long day of golf, by practicing on the ‘BinderCloud Putting Green’, the mist slowly cleared to give way to sunshine, which brought out all the stunning features of this Championship standard course. Those who attended the event in 2014 will remember the brilliant Guy Westgate and the aerobatic Glider FX and AeroSPARX teams, which once again graced the Suffolk skyline at lunchtime to provide a spectacular backdrop to a competitive morning on the course.

A plethora of prizes were up for grabs throughout the course, including the always popular ‘Gambling Hole’ (this year kindly sponsored by Advance International). 2015 saw the introduction of new award for sinking a ‘hole-in-one’ on the 18th, a brand new Jaguar XF- kindly provided by Marshall Jaguar Ipswich. As the afternoon wore on, Charlie Rock from Total Objects was the closest to pin, agonizingly coming just a few feet from driving away in a new motor!

Also new for 2015, was the support from ‘Skico Imaging’ who provided a state-of-the-art camera drone, which helped cover the event from every angle and offered an exciting new perspective with which the golf and all the attractions on the day, can be viewed.

The usual format of the Texas Scramble Team Competition and the Stableford Individual Challenge was applied, and it was Team Guy Carpenter who came out on top in the Team Competition with a score of 55.7 and Rob Hadgraft of the Lloyd’s Market Association team who triumphed in the individual challenge with 42 points to become the 2nd recipient of The Kevin Collins Memorial Trophy. The winners of the ‘Just Giving - Prize Giveaway’ from 2014 were also announced, with the winners all being contacted directly by Total Objects.

The presentations were concluded and we heard from Ben Gee, Fundraising Manager for The City of London at Cancer Research UK, who explained how the money raised would help fund their continuing research into the disease and how events such as the golf day are bringing the day a cure is found for Cancer, ever closer.

However even more impressive has been the progress made by Cancer Research UK since the golf day was set up 26 years ago. We would like to thank all the companies who have helped support this year’s event, whether it be by allowing staff to attend or by sponsoring a hole, with all funds raised going towards helping Cancer Research UK ‘Beat Cancer Sooner’. Credit must also go to Paul Sandfield and the Golf committee at the ‘City of London Friends of Cancer Research’ group who have organised this event since its foundation. We hope to see everyone again next year for another memorable day’’.

However the day’s activities didn’t finish there, as Guy and Glider FX and AeroSPARX team came back to entertain the watching crowds with an ‘Evening Spectacular’ of aerobatic loops, twists and shooting pyrotechnics into the sky giving a display that provided a fitting end to another spectacular Annual Insurance Market Charity Golf day.
